– Inspired through a query, asked by Tim Stüttgen at Facebook, and a comment of ‘gd’ at indymedia –
1. Do we fight for gender pluralism (instead of gender binarism) or do we fight for the abolition of genders at all?
2. Shall we direct our fight against ‘discrimination’ and ‘repression’?
3. Or have we to recognise, that the genders are produced by the dominant order? And further: Have we to recognise, that discrimination is not the decisive thing, rather the symptom of a more fundamental social structure of domination and exploitation?
4. Are trans and drag activism surely first steps for revolutionising the social relations? Or does depend this on certain conditions – and is, therefore, trans and drag activism as such clearly not sufficient?
5. Shall we replace feminism with ‘queer’ (or with ‘queer feminism’ – ‘queer’ as modifier [“fabric softener”] of feminism)? Or do we need both: Unmodified feminism and queer?
6. Applies the queer-dekonstructivist thesis, that identities are socially constructed, only to cis-identities (“biological” men and women, as stated in their original birth certificates)? Or does it apply to trans-identities as well?
7. Are the lax reactions of the queer scene towards sexual harassment exclusively caused by pressure of work and inappropriate behaviour by some individuals? Or is there a systematic connection with the basic political orientation of the queer mainstream in Germany, which includes that using the term ‘feminism’ within the appeals for the transgeniale CSD (transbrilliant Gay Pride Manifestation) is a great taboo?
Those are simple and basic questions, to which all comrades can reply. And they should reply consciousness and well-founded.
To my critics:
Those are not questions, which can be answered only by people, who hold a certain school or academic degree. Those are questions, which we have to face in our political struggle.
